Where are the biggest career opportunities? Which areas of digital are looking more promising for professionals looking for a future-proof job in demand in 2025 and the following years? We’ve got the answers!
We’ve looked at LinkedIn’s Jobs on the Rise 2025 report to highlight the fastest-growing tech jobs in the UK right now. Whether you’re a job seeker exploring your next move or an employer looking to find skilled candidates, this list offers some invaluable insights into the future of work. Let’s see!
1.- Artificial Intelligence Engineer
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising industries across the board. Therefore, the demand for skilled professionals in AI has surged globally. AI engineers develop and implement AI models and algorithms to enhance processes and solve complex challenges. Large Language Models (LLM), AI, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) are some of the key skills for AI engineering roles.
One thing that stands out is the gender gap in this field, though. LinkedIn’s data shows that 82% of AI Engineers in the UK are men, which highlights how underrepresented women are in these roles. It’s a clear sign that much more must be done to make the tech industry more inclusive.
2.- Data Governance Manager
As businesses rely more heavily on data to guide decisions, the demand for skilled Data Governance Managers is on the rise. Data governance Managers ensure organisations manage their data effectively, maintaining its quality and compliance with regulations.
Being a sought-after data role, many professionals transition to a Data Governance role from Business Analysis, Information Security and Data Specialist roles. After all, Data Quality and Data Management are essential skills for most data roles.
Like many other roles in Digital, London, Edinburgh, and Manchester are the top locations hiring for this position, and the roles often offer hybrid work opportunities, with 71% being hybrid and 5% remote.
3.- Chief Revenue Officer (CRO)
In the current state of economic uncertainty, driving revenue becomes a top priority for organisations, with a consequent increase in the demand for Chief Revenue Officers (CROs). In the UK, the highest demand for CROs concentrates in London, Manchester, and Glasgow, although 73% of these executive roles offer hybrid working.
Revenue Generation, SaaS expertise, and Revenue Management are some critical skills for CROs. These C-Suite Level leaders are responsible for strategic initiatives that boost financial performance, which requires extensive experience (over 9 years of prior experience, if we look at LinkedIn’s research) before stepping into the role.
4.- Digital Marketing Specialist
While not explicitly listed in LinkedIn’s report, we forecast that the demand for Digital Marketing skills will continue to rise in 2025. AI-driven tools, personalisation and data analytics influence how brands connect with audiences, with Manchester and London as the top UK hubs for digital marketing innovation.
Here are the Digital Marketing roles most sought-after by companies in the UK in 2025:
- SEO Managers
- Content Strategists
- Social Media Managers
- Paid Media Specialists
- Account Executives
5.- Network Engineer
The decentralisation of work and reliance on technology has increased the demand for Network Engineers (or ‘Information Technology Field Engineers’, in LinkedIn words). Network Engineers provide on-site support for IT systems, ensuring infrastructure remains operational and secure.
Hiring hotspots for this position include London, Manchester, and Glasgow, although hybrid roles aren’t that common for Network Engineering. Despite the growing demand, the gender gap in this tech expertise is huge. Shockingly, LinkedIn data reveals that only 6% of Network Engineers in the UK are women.
