On a global scale, were we ever so glad to say goodbye 2020 than we were any other year? This year has been so full of bad news from start to finish. It all started with bushfires raging through Australia and after that, the headlines were dominated by the devastation caused by coronavirus.
Despite so much doom and gloom, there were a few joyous moments, such as:
- New growth was found on the Great Barrier Reef
- Penguins enjoyed a day out
- In April 2020 pandas mated for the first time in ten years
- Beavers built dams in Devon for the first time in 400 years
- A vaccine that would have normally taken 10-15 years to produce went into production in under a year
Sadly, as soon as the vaccine brought us hope, a new strain of the coronavirus saw Christmas swiftly cancelled. But while this festive season has no doubt been a sombre one for many, we can but hope that 2021 brings better news. So without dwelling on negativity any longer than we need to, we say goodbye 2020, and hello 2021!
