Me in 3 Professional. Friendly. Adaptable
I started working at Adria in 2014. My background is in Finance, so I first joined the Adria team as an accountant, working part-time around school hours. In truth, I have been involved with Adria Solutions even before it was born. If you’ve had a sneak peek at the team page, you’ll probably have noticed that my surname sounds quite familiar. We weren’t joking when we said Adria was a family business!
Like many other people, I also fell into recruitment by accident. Saying that Nick and Dave were busy is an understatement. The situation might sound familiar to hiring managers reading these lines. After landing two major clients with urgent positions to fill, they needed help with the administrative side of recruitment and little time to hire and onboard a new person on top of delivering the roles. That’s where I came to the rescue!
From the first day, I felt very welcomed by the team and supported. I still needed loads of training to become the marketing recruitment consultant I am today. I’m constantly learning and improving, and that’s something that keeps me engaged and motivated. Even though I still manage Adria’s finances, I love working in recruitment.
If you are starting a career in recruitment, you should focus on building strong relationships and understanding the needs of both clients and candidates. While you will learn the technical skills with training like I did, having excellent communication skills, empathy, and persistence are essential for long-term success in recruitment.
Being resilient and optimistic definitely helps when things don’t go as planned. For example, what keeps me going when I have a bad day is knowing my job is helping clients grow their organisations with the right people precisely because I know the positive effect a great hire can have on a business.
