2nd Line Technician – Stoke on Trent – £28,000

We have an great opportunity for a 2nd line technician to join a large retail company based in Stoke on Trent. They are rapidly expanding and are seeking to recruit a talented 2nd Line Technician to join their team. The client are looking to hire someone ASAP and are looking to conduct interviews quickly.

You will provide support via telephone, e-mail and using remote control software, where you will provide an excellent service to end users and set expectations based on agreed processes.

Key Activities:
* Provide 2nd line technical support within the IT Service Desk
* Working closely with both 1st and 3rd line to ensure the issue is resolved or assigned to the correct level
* Supporting Windows servers both physical and virtual
* Undertaking small- to medium-sized IT projects
* Log all calls on the call logging system.
* Day to day management of the backup system.
* Working on own initiative to diagnose and resolving technical issues
* Understanding of Networking and TCP/IP Protocols;
* Understanding of Microsoft based desktop operating system – Windows 10

Essential skills and specialist knowledge:
* VMWare
* Linux
* Understanding of Networking
* Windows Server
* Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
* Good time management and priority handling
* Highly diligent with exceptional attention to detail
* Able to risk assess before executing change
* Able to conduct research into areas as required
* Able to logically understand, diagnose and resolve problems
