System Configuration Analyst – Manchester. Our growing client based in Manchester is currently looking for a System Configuration Analyst. This successful candidate will primarily be dealing with 2nd line support work but from also help with 1st line issues when demand dictates. You will need to be able to think quickly, deal with multiple problems at the same time and be confident in investigating anything from data issues to software bugs as well as hardware or software configuration issues. Ideally you should have experience of working with T-SQL to investigate and resolve data issues with some programming and network management experience. This role offers the opportunity to expand their knowledge into most aspects of IT due to the varied nature of the work.
Your main duties will include:
•Dealing with 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support issues and talking to users about their problems to identify any area(s) to be investigated
•SQL script generation to identify and resolve any data issues
•Investigating software and hardware problems and producing recommendations for resolving them
•Helping to maintain the Live, Development and User Acceptance Testing environments
•Helping to maintain documentation for the Live, Development and User Acceptance Testing environments
•The preparation and testing of software releases and hardware updates to the Development and User Acceptance Testing environments.
The successful candidate must have the following experience:
•Must be able to demonstrate experience of T-SQL and maintaining a SQL Server
•Experience of maintaining a windows 2003 environment
•Experience with VB6, VB.Net and / or C# would be an advantage but not essential
•Experience of releasing software would also be beneficial.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as are good organisational and time management.
