Software Test Analyst - Greater Manchester - £35-45K. Our growing client based near Manchester (Manchester / Cheshire border) is currently looking for an experienced Software Test Analyst to assist in developing and implementing testing strategies, best practice processes and automated testing methodologies with a view on continuous improvement of testing capabilities. You will also build and oversee the development of automated regression testing suites to support the growth of projects and operate as part of a core development team throughout the Software Development Lifecycle using an Agile/Scrum methodology.
 

Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with business analysts and technical leads to review project documentation such as functional requirements and technical specifications
• Work with developers to ensure that the acceptance and unit tests are complete, appropriate and that all scenarios have been identified
• Converting requirements into individual tasks and time estimates
• Take responsibility for ensuring that applications fulfil the business requirements
• Test planning, test script preparation and test execution & documentation
• Manage and perform testing, recording results and where appropriate performing initial root cause investigation
• Defect tracking and management, working with development and support teams to identify root cause and resolve issues, working with the business during UAT defect resolution
• Non functional testing (including performance, security, network and disaster recovery)
• Create, review, execute and maintain manual tests in order to meet the expected results
• Write, run and assist in automating test scripts
• Application Integration, Regression, System, Performance, Load, Stress & User Acceptance Testing
• Input into release process on quality and readiness of software for release
• Contribute to the testing team's continuous improvement process
• Upkeep of internal testing and quality systems
• Producing automated quality metrics and trends to the Iteration Manager / Technical Lead
Skills / Attributes Required
• Experience working in Agile development environment. This needs to be detailed. eg. TDD, User Stories, Release Planning, Retrospectives, experience working in an environment with multiple, complex work streams
• Solid experience with Automated testing
• Strong technical testing skills with experience of testing client server and GUI applications
• Strong analytical capabilities and knowledge in problem solving
• Excellent communicator and team player
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Experience with Selenium RC, WebDriver or Fitnesse is highly desirable
• Database/SQL/MySQL knowledge and experience of Windows/Unix/Linux is desirable
• Experience writing scripts in one of following scripting languages: Java, Groovy, JavaScript or Python
