IT Systems Engineer £25-£35K - Field Based - Carnforth, Lancashire / Cumbria. Our client based in Carnforth, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Systems Engineer, to join a well-established IT service provider. This new and exciting role involves the build and rollout of systems across new and existing customer base. This will involve some home and remote working, as well as project rollout on customer premises
Activities:
The typical activities undertaken by the successful applicant will involve…
o Building and configuring Microsoft Windows server operating systems and business applications, including Remote Desktop Services & Citrix
o Building and connecting wide area networks, including firewall configuration and commissioning VPN’s.
o Troubleshooting system and network problems.
o Diagnosing and solving hardware & software application issues.
o Supporting the roll-out of new business applications.
o Testing and evaluating new software & hardware technologies.
o Rollout of hosted desktop services to new customers, including desktop configuration.
o Working closely with customers to maximise user experience.
o Working to stringent security procedures and SLA’s.
Applicant:
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience of working in a customer facing IT role. The ability to effectively communicate the values to all key stakeholders is essential.
Knowledge of a wide variety of IT disciplines is advantageous, as the roll involves many different skill sets from server builds to desktop configuration.
Preferred candidate will be based in the North West and hold a full driving license. They must be flexible as part of the role includes out of hours and weekend support on a rota basis.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working in a field based IT engineering role, including the following..

o SQL Server 2008
o Exchange 2010
o SharePoint 2010
o Remote Desktop and/or Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop

o Veeam & HP Data Protector Backup Software

o HP Proliant Servers
o HP SAN Storage
o Desktop & Laptop PC’s
o Thin Clients

• Good general knowledge of networking including…
o TCP/IP,
o Firewalls and VPN's
o Routing.
o Broadband and Leased Line technologies (ie. EFM, Sharedband, Fibre).
o Network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge and experience of server virtualisation technologies.
